Day 9 -- Teamwork

Group 1 Olivia Poon 3A (20)
Today we had a lesson about teamwork and the importance of it.  Both a humble leader and a group of cooperative teammates are needed to finish a task as a team. We prepared for the cultural night in the afternoon. Our home group was assigned as the preparation team and we were allocated to work on different tasks like chopping the pork or piecing the bean. Although everyone was very tired after finishing our tasks, we do think that we have done a great job by cooperating with one another. We enjoyed preparing the dishes and it was really a valuable learning experience.

Group 2 Bella Ko 3A (11)
In the morning, we had a lesson on teamwork and got to make a dream collage and mine consisting of mostly food which was pretty much what I like the most. Afterwards, we went to the kitchen to prepare for culture night and I was in charge of cutting the cucumbers into slices. I progressively got better as it went on but my hand was very sore after. I also helped wash some peas and the water was freezing so my hand ended up being really cold after that. During the culture night, we played some Hong Kong games which were quite fun and the food tasted very much like what my home would have and I felt quite happy to know that I had contributed in preparing the food. We had a hectic dance party afterwards and it was extremely fun and tiring as everyone was dancing and jumping around the place and I was sweating the whole time. Overall, it was a really fun day and the dance party was definitely my favorite.

Today was the day of the culture night. But before that we had a lesson on cooperation and a craft session making a dream collage. We also did yoga under the guidance of an incredible instructor. But most importantly, we had cultural night consisting of a power point presentation, a game, and wonderful foods all related to Hong Kong. The best part of the whole night was the karaoke session at last. All of us, including the counsellor, went wild and reckless singing and dancing to different songs including bloom clap, uptown funk, closer, despacito, super hot. It was so fun and unforgettable.

Group 4 Natalie Jim (16)
Today we made our Dream Collage and created our dream.using fragments of magazines, stuck on a blank sheet of paper. Besides, we had our culture night, the long-awaited event! Our group was in charge of brainstorming activities. We held a game called The Big Television, which is very popular in Hong Kong’s variety shows. During the activity time, all of the teams had their chance to play, even the teachers. We all had a great and memorable time! After having the dinner made by the other groups, we had a dance time where all of us rejoiced in the singing and dancing.

Group 5 Agatha Yeung 3L (29)
The topic of today's lesson is teamwork. After the lesson, we did a craft about our dream college. We used old magazines to find out items we dream to have in the future. Then, we had a physical activity: yoga. This was my first time doing yoga, and I feel so amazed because it was like a moving meditation. The main activity today was culture night, which we had been planning for a few days already. Our group was responsible for planning the
activities and we planned the game "big television" for all of us to play. All participants had a lot of fun, and I thought we did not waste our effort on planning it. Other groups were responsible for preparing food. They cooked food that represent Hong Kong and I think this meal is the most delicious among all the meals! After the dinner, we all got very excited and played music in a high volume. I think today is the most fruitful day!

Today was our ninth day in Brescia. The theme of today was ‘teamwork’, and though it sounds simple, there were actually a lot for us to learn.
We all made ourselves a ‘dream collage’, during which we had to cut out pictures or quotes about our dreams and stick them onto a large piece of paper. After that, an instructor came and taught us yoga. At first, many of us could not calm down and were making a huge fuss, and sometimes giggling when we did the poses. However, as time passed most of us were able to calm down, creating a chill atmosphere and a relaxing sensation. We all did a great job, and found it effective in relieving stress.
Moving on, we played a game called ‘Pool Noodle Pickup’, which required two of us picking up one ball with a stick each of us was holding. Teamwork is very essential in the game, and it was hard to pick up the ball, as the plastic stick was wiggly, causing the ball to roll away easily.
At night, we had our ‘Culture Night’. Each of us was assigned to respective teams, like the ‘Rice Team’ or the ‘Pork Team’. Each of us put our greatest effort in it, hoping the food could be edible and ultimately sharing the culture of Hong Kong. It turns out that all of us enjoyed the food a lot, especially the ‘Soy Sauce Chicken’. Two groups made a slideshow about Hong Kong, and we were given a quiz on the street names of Hong Kong. Lots of laughter was created when the counsellors made a mistake.
Overall, it was a very rewarding experience to all of us, as the counsellors were able to learn more about us and Hong Kong, and we were glad to be able to share what we know about Hong Kong with them. At last, we had a dance party, and it was a blast. All of us literally went out of control and were unleashed like mad dogs. We danced, sang a lot, and screamed at the top of our lungs. It was the craziest and wildest night yet.

Group 7
Today is the ninth day in Canada. After having breakfast, we had a short lesson talking about teamwork, from which we learnt that it is an important element in becoming a good leader as a good leader can inspire people when they are willing to work with others to complete goals with other teammates as a team.
After the lesson, we had a craft session, when we got the chance to make our own dream college, cutting pictures from magazines and sticking them on a cardboard . It was fun!
In the afternoon, we had a yoga session, in which we learnt a couple of poses, such as the table, downward dog, warrior, triangle, tree and mountain pose. At the beginning, it was quite hard to balance our bodies and to remain quiet. However, at last we could all balance ourselves and did the aforementioned poses successfully.
To conclude today's events, we had the most impressive and long-awaited Culture Night, at which each home group was allocated a specific task. Some of them were responsible for cooking, while some were responsible for decorating, cleaning, organizing activities and doing presentation about Hong Kong. During the night, we ate “Vegetable Rice”, “Swiss Chicken Drumstick”, “Sliced Pork and Sugar Snap Peas with Bean Paste” and “Glutinous Rice Balls with Peanuts and Sesame Seeds” for dessert. After the dinner, we all got crazy and kept dancing, singing and screaming with our counsellors. We were like having a party. We all had a great night and the memories will definitely last forever in our hearts.

Group 8 Katherine Wong 3T (35)
Today we had fun craft time. We made our dream college by cutting out pictures that inspire us in the magazines, then to be stuck onto the cardboard. Some stuck basketballs, plants, puppies, etc. We treasured the time and was very much inspired.
In the afternoon, we had a yoga (moving meditation) session. At first we were unfamiliar, but with the help of the teacher's guidelines, we could not only learn basic poses, but also relieved our stress and relaxed ourselves.
Culture night is the most successful event tonight. We had delectable HK cuisines and light refreshments in a colourfully decorated dinner hall. Most of us also had a great time singing and dancing relaxingly and wildly to the famous pop songs. What a wonderful day we had!

Group 9 Janice Leung 3U (23)
Today’s theme is teamwork. I learnt a lot through the interactive game.
The lesson taught me how important teamwork is for a leader to ensure effective communication and achieve a common goal. Humility is also an important quality of a great leader as it promotes acceptance and prevents us from losing our vision. We would not be blinded by arrogance and pride.
Pool noodle pick-up was an eye-opening activity. I realised that it was extremely hard to complete the challenge without proper cooperation with your partner. At first, we all assumed that the game was going to be easy, but as soon as we started playing, we quickly discovered the difficulty of efficient communication and cooperation. The activity taught us a great lesson: to be humble and not to underestimate challenges.
Our favourite activity of the day was the Culture Night. We shared a lot about  Hong Kong’s local culture, and it was rewarding to see the counselors learning more about our home. We also tried the food that our friends made, and their efforts definitely paid off!

Group 10 Nicole Yip 3P (31)
Today is the ninth day of our camp. We had many different activities.  In the morning, we made a craft of our dream college. We cut and pasted images that inspired us from the magazines. My collage has a large watch on it, which reminds me of the importance of treasuring every moment and always be punctual. Apart from the collage, we had the activity called the Pool Noodle Pick Up, during which two people worked as a team and used two pool noodles to pick up plastic balls of a certain colour. My partner and I got the hang of the game and cooperated well throughout the game. We used the three ways of communication to enhance our efficiency in communication.
In the evening, we had the Cultural Night. Our group did a presentation about Hong Kong and our counsellors had a great time guessing the street names and playing the game.  This was followed by an exhilarating dance party and we played several songs. We learnt a lot and had immense fun today.
