Day 2 -- Knowing Myself
Group 1 Christy Chu 3A (6)
Today we first had a lesson of knowing ourselves. We were given a paper heart and 5 options of the ways that we spread love. The teacher also used sand, marbles and ping pong balls which represent the media, hobbies and family respectively. It made us know the most important things in our lives and prompted us to rearrange our priorities in life. Then, we had a leisurely nature walk, which made us more familiar with the architecture of the school.
After that, we created a plastic flower 'I am'. We wrote different adjectives about ourselves on each of the petal. Through this activity, we learnt more about ourselves and began to treasure what we usually do not pay attention to. I hope that I can understand myself more in the coming days in order to be a
good leader.

Today is the second day of our tour, and we have learnt about personal leadership. This includes knowing our personalities, our strengths and weaknesses. The most inspiring part in the lesson is the 'priority jar'. The jar includes sand, marbles and ping pong balls, which represent the minor, more
important and the most important things in life. The theory behind is that mostly we fill our jar with sand first rather than the more important things in life. If we spend all our time on trivial matters, we won't be able to have room for the important things in life. Therefore, organizing our priority jar helps us to know how much time we should be spending on different events, making our life more well-spent.
After that, we went for a
nature walk and had a picnic. We learnt more about Brescia and became closer to
the nature. Playing games together also help us know more about ourselves and
our friends. Finally, we engaged in a small talent show in which we sang and
danced. It was a rewarding and amazing day.

During the morning
of day 2 in Brescia, our activities were focused on learning about ourselves,
exploring our personal strengths and weaknesses, and identifying our
priorities. The metaphoric demonstration of using ping-pong balls, marbles and
sand, representing different orders of importance of our priorities left a
lasting impression for me, encouraging me to plan my time efficiently and
combat my habit of procrastinating.
After noon, our activities were based on mainly exploring nature and the campus of Western university. The venture around the campus allowed me to know different buildings and left me in awe due to the vastness and comfort of the campus. Furthermore, the picnic in the nature was also extremely enjoyable, which is something that can hardly be experienced in a packed and stuffy Hong Kong. I am looking forward to other exciting activities that our counsellors had prepared for us and to making great memories with my fellow friends.

Today we had a talk on love language and personal leadership, which has given me an opportunity to explore and know myself better. I was also able to find out more about what I’m good at in the craft workshop “I am”, by exploring what I like and dislike, and what I am good or weak at. I could then realise what I need to make improvements. In the demonstration of making the priority jar, I learnt about how to set priorities for different work, arranging them from the most important to the least important.
Among all activities today, I enjoyed the
nature walk and picnic the most. We were walking around the Western University
campus, through which we knew more about the environment here. Although there
were many insects on the grassland where we had our picnic, the buildings and
trees surrounding us have formed a beautiful view. We took many beautiful
photos there.

The theme of today is “Knowing Myself”. We
had lessons on learning more about ourselves and learning how to prioritise
what we need to do in our lives. We also learnt the 10 personalities required
for a leader, which include being caring, positive, respectful, etc. After the
lesson, we had a nature walk. We learnt more about Western University
when we walking around at the campus. It is a lot bigger than Brescia
University College’s campus! We are now more familiar with the locations
of the main buildings after the walk. During our picnic lunch at the Western
University, we saw a dead squirrel. It was bleeding and many flies were flying
around it. We found this scene terrible and we guessed it might have fallen
down when it was climbing the tree. Then, in the craft workshop, we made a
flower on which we listed our strengths, learning more about ourselves. It is
important to know more about ourselves before leading others.

Today was our second day in Brescia and all of us woke up early, ready for the day’s events to come! The theme of the day was ‘Knowing Myself’. We had a deeper understanding about ourselves through learning the love language, which means that one receives love and encouragement through different aspects. ‘One of the biggest challenges current and future leaders face is to be able to “lead
themselves” before going out and attempting to lead others. It is a precise idea of personal leadership that we have to achieve.
We then went for a nature walk around the
school campus, which was bigger than we had thought. We got to know about some
of the school buildings, such as the university community center and the main
library. The picnic lunch was the highlight of the day as we could all enjoy
ourselves under the comfortable beam of sunlight. This was really amazing!
After heading back, we had a short performance. Teamwork and cooperation with
each other are indeed significant.
Finally, we ended the day by playing some
board games that made us more relaxed. Overall, it has been a wonderful day and
we are all looking forward to the days ahead!

Today is our second day in Canada. After
having breakfast , we learnt the love languages which helped us understand more about ourselves and improve our communication with others. It is important as we can easily find the best and most suitable way to encourage our teammates, and let them feel love and support. The most impressive part of the day is the Nature Walk. Despite the hot weather and the annoying insects , we walked around the main campus of the Western University and saw a large stadium , a building for business students which is still under construction, and the Alumni Hall. We were amused when we saw the vast grassland . Although there are also grasslands in Hong Kong , they are usually small in size and rare. It is my first time seeing such a large piece of grassland and the scenery is surreal. We had a wonderful experience of having a picnic on the grassland , I will never forget the softness and freshness of the grass. I hope I can gain more unforgettable experiences in the following days!

The theme of the program today is “Knowing Myself”. There were various interesting activities including the nature walk, icebreaker game and the craft-making of “I am”. These activities were impressive and useful. They provided us with the opportunity to explore the campus and know more about ourselves. Successful leadership starts with oneself. Before we can lead others well, we must first be able to know and lead ourselves. We learnt to identify our weakest trait and improve it. Last but not least, these activities definitely improved my communication and problem solving skills. I found them beneficial. I have surely made a step towards being a great leader.

We went on a nature walk and explored the
university today. It was nice to walk around the campus and enjoy the beautiful
weather. It was sunny and breezy, which made the walk very enjoyable. We
chatted with our friends and counselors all the way and learnt so much more
about each other! I feel like we are a lot closer after the walk.
We really enjoy having lunch outside the
cafeteria because it is very refreshing and it is always good to spend time
under the sun. However, one thing we have to learn is how to get along with the
bugs. We were afraid of the bees and mosquitoes but they were everywhere! We have
to understand that they are part of nature and they won't actually hurt us if
we don't hurt them.
Not only was today fun, but we also took away
some valuable lessons. We learnt how to prioritize things in our lives
according to their importance. In this way, we can live life to the fullest and
not waste time on less important events. Prioritizing is a very useful and
important skill but is often overlooked. This is why we think today's lesson
would be very useful to us.

Today is the second day of the Brescia Leadership Camp. The theme today is “Knowing Myself”. In the morning, we learnt more about ourselves and also realized the importance of putting things in priorities throughout our life. After that, we walked around the campus. It was the first time for me to visit a university of a foreign country. As we rarely get to see such a huge campus compared to the universities in Hong Kong, it was a remarkable experience. The view was memorizing and magnificent. We were all amazed by the well-built and spacious campus. In the afternoon, we made a craft called ‘I am’. We created flowers of our own style by designing petals. On the petals, we wrote things that are unique to us. I think this craft helped me understand more about myself and know how to appreciate and treasure what we have and our inner good qualities.
At night, we played some card games together. Today was quite an eventful day and I look forward to participating in the future activities.
