Day 4 -- Communication

Group 1 Michelle Chow 3A (4)
We had an "amazing race" after having cereal as breakfast. Each group had to take photos in various assigned locations. The group which finished the mission first would be the winner. The race is definitely exciting and allows us to know more about the buildings in Brescia. I am glad that our group was the first runner-up of this race.
After having lunch, we attended a lesson in which a special guest gave us an extremely great speech about the theme of true colours. He taught us to discover our own personality and to analyze which colour we belong to including blue, yellow, green and orange through an interesting test. We enjoyed this lesson a lot. Then there was a lesson about "communication" in which our classmates had a drawing test and lego challenge that involved good communication skills. We had a lesson review before dinner to discuss how we could enhance our communication skills, crucial in leadership.
After dinner, we made a dreamcatcher by ourselves. All of us were grateful and happy with our product despite it being quite difficult to make. To conclude, all of us enjoyed the day a lot and we are extremely looking forward to the forthcoming activities.

We started the day off with an amazing race and it definitely required a lot of physical effort as I was completely exhausted afterwards. It was extremely fun as we ran from place to place for the race and ended up second, which was quite good. Tacos were served for lunch and it was my favorite food. They tasted really good so I ended up refilling my plate. We discovered our personalities in true colors and mine was green, which I thought was quite correct but I had traits of other colors too.
Afterwards, we made a birthday card for an orange person and it was definitely the funniest part of the day as we kept laughing when we tried drawing fun words and pictures on the card spontaneously. Dinner was by far the best meal I've had in Brescia. There was chicken rice and I ate two plates of it so I was very full.
We made dream catchers at night and it was quite frustrating at first as I had to redo parts of it so it definitely tested my patience but at the end the result was very aesthetically pleasing and I was happy with it. Overall, it was a really fun day and I enjoyed it a lot.

There was an activity named "Amazing Race" to start off the day. It was quite tiring but we learnt more about the Western campus. We were also taught on 3 types of communication methods, which are verbal, written, and by our body language. In addition, by knowing others’ true colours that are divided into 4 groups (gold/green/orange/blue), we would better and more suitably communicate with each other, and avoid unnecessary conflicts in the role of leaders. Near the end of the day, we made our own unique dream catcher and overall, it has been a great experience.

Group 4 Melissa Lam 3L (14)
The first activity today was amazing race. We enhanced our communication and leadership skills through this activity. We are all winners as we have learnt a lot through this race. We also learnt about our true colours through the talk by Eric. We also developed a new perspective as to how to communicate well with people of different personalities. Every person is unique and has different point of views, so we have to respect each other in order to communicate effectively. In the afternoon, there was a lego challenge allowing us to enhance our communication skills.
The last activity today was making a dreamcatcher. The process was not easy. We learnt to be patient and not give up despite difficulties. The dream catchers we made were so beautiful, and every dream catcher was unique. We learnt that through hard work and practice, we can reach our goals. Today was truly an amazing day, and we had lots of fun while learning to become successful leaders.

Today was the fifth day of the leadership camp and we learnt how to communicate with others by verbal communication, body language and written words through various activities. In the first an activity 'amazing race', we needed to find the buildings in Western University and took group photos based on some clues given. For our group, we thought our poses were too ‘normal and boring’ so we decided to imitate a person on social media. Then we had the personality lesson. Before the lesson, the communication within our group was terrible. After having a lesson with professor Eric, we improved the communication among us and did a great job in the next lego challenge. Hermione, the director, and Agatha, the information relayer, gave us detailed information which led us to be the first group to finish the challenge. Besides, we drew a picture for our counsellor Sabrina and she was so delighted to see our drawing.

Group 6 Jessica Chien 3S (5)
Today, we participated in the Amazing Race. It was a game that we participated as a group and took group pictures at particular places in the campus according to the instructions given. The fastest group that arrived to the destination would be the winner. We didn't encounter many difficulties in the race. However, we did a lot of running in this game and we all were exhausted. We all had lots of fun. Although we were the last team to set off, our team was the second runner-up.
Later on, there's a special guest lecture on the topic True Colours, which was about our personalities. We did a survey and the results showed that there are totally four main kinds of personalities. Each person belongs to one of them. The colours are gold, green, orange and blue. They represent being organized, knowledgeable, friendly and independent respectively. We each had a different "colour" in our group and we all thought that the results were accurate.
At night, it was time for games. We all made dreamcatchers. Dreamcatchers are so beautiful but hard to make. At first, we didn't understand the steps, which were quite complicated. We tried to follow the instructions step by step. Making dreamcatchers required us to be patient and very careful. It took us two to three hours to finish one dreamcatcher. At last, we all succeeded in making the dreamcatchers and had lots of fun in the process.
Overall, we all had a fantastic time and it was really surely an unforgettable day.

Group 7 Wing Yeung 3U (35)
Today, we participated in different activities. The Amazing Race Challenge was very exciting. Our group started last but we were able to catch up and finally got the third place! This experience taught us that we should not give up even when we are falling behind, as sometimes the results would turn out way better than we had expected!
I think the most impressive part of the day is the talk, "True Colours". We had done a quiz before finding out which"colour" we belong to. I am a "blue" person, meaning that I am a peacemaker. I will make good use of this personality and be a nice and caring leader. I learnt more about myself and that if everyone works together, with different people of their own colours, we can build a colourful society!

Group 8 Chloe Tsoi (31)
It’s finally the day that our group had been expecting. All of us are excited about the amazing race. We took photos in different places to complete the missions and had to reach the bookstore as fast as possible to win the game. The game made us so fatigued but it was worth it. After lunch, Mr Eric (special guest) taught us about “personalities”. He guided us to know more about ourselves and how to be a great leader through a small questionnaire. I found that most of my groupmates are “gold” people, which means they’re realistic, dependable and responsible. The last activity is making a dreamcatcher. We think it’s super hard and complicated to make at first, but with the counsellors’ help, nearly all of us successfully made our own dreamcatcher. We enjoyed this awesome and fabulous day very much!

Group 9 Tiffany Siu 3U (27)
The theme today is communication. Since the Amazing Race required much physical strength and coordination, we learnt to take care of each other while racing around the campus. Two members in our group fell behind as they felt unwell, and this experience taught us that we must always put the priority of our groupmates over winning a game. We also learnt about our personalities from our special guest, Mr. Eric, in his sharing of “True Colors”. Understanding one's personality is important because we can know more about ourselves and how we can work with people of other personalities. This certainly helps us become more compatible and communicative. In the evening, we made dreamcatchers and met new people and learn about the traditional Canadian culture. Overall, it was a very eventful day.

Group 10 Vera Kwok 3P (15)
We had a tight schedule today. The day started off with the Amazing Race, followed by a talk by the guest panellist and an interactive lesson with activities. It ended with a craft session - dream catcher. Despite the tight schedule, we were quite happy and satisfied. The Amazing Race was physically demanding, yet we enjoyed it a lot. This exciting game shrouded in a competitive atmosphere fostered our group spirit and strengthened our bonding with each other. What we did in the guest panellist session was also exciting and useful. We took a short personality test to find out more about ourselves and this helped us to lead a deeper reflection on ourselves. The dream catcher craft session was great too. The very process of making the dream catcher helped train us to be more patient. Overall, today is quite a hectic day but we still enjoyed it. We look forward to more activities in the coming days.
